POST .1INTRODUCTION :
SHEIKHUPURA IS THE 16TH LARGEST CITY OF PAKISTAN . SHEIKHUPURA DISTRICT IS CONSIST OF 5 TEHSILS IN WHICH ONE IS MAIN SHEIKHUPURA , THIS CITY IS AT NORTHWEST OF LAHORE WITH A LOT OF POPULAR AND HISTORICAL PLACES .
Right now I’m in main sheikhupura city and to be honest it is so difficult to get a hostel or a room at rent for some days. Even it is a city but it gives look of town maybe a reason is many people here are farmers yeah but other professionals like teaching , personal Buisness and industries are present here some occupation like teaching ,doctors and factory workers are also here . But by my observation I find that most of these higher class people actually belongs to some other cities of Pakistan and moved here sometime in history mostly came from surrounding villages.
It was known that this city was a forest and son of King Akbar , king JHANGIR came here to hunt . From his nick name “SHEIKHU” this city is named as SHEIKHUPURA. King Jahangir made a minar (tower) as a tomb in the memory of his beloved deer (call hirn in Urdu) that’s why this tower was named “HIRAN MINAR “
Popularity of sheikhupura are rice, no doubt these hardworking farmers put there maximum taste and the remains are filled by cooks ,well known for food ,all type of food available with punjabi touch. From Chinese to Indian foods or fast food everything taste so good , I will post so something ,on their recipes and popular hotels.
A lack of facilities and some people are in really pitiful conditions but yeah! Some organization like Shaukat khanam and health relief organization trust are trying to help people with their hearts. Government schools , colleges even DHQ hospital is playing very important role to educate people ,aware them and help them in low cost. How can this be a city it has a cricket stadium, maybe small then international stadiums now a days but a few years ago many legend players play here.
Film actress Meera belongs from this city ,popular politicians like Mian Javed Latif is the member of national assembly representing sheikhupura
An old fort is present here "purana qila sheikhupura "
Government careless and lack of conservation destroy it now it's in worst condition , no doubt fort was designed very beautiful but now it is no less than a haunted place with alot of poisonous animals ,insects and criminal palace , I post on this unknown fort to if you are frustrated to know tell me in the comments I will post it early . A short briefing is , this fort was made by King Jhangir for his hunting spot at that time sheikhupura was a forest so king stay here , it is known that a secret canal was digged underground . Which pass through HIRAN minar to lahore Fort so in emergency king can run away to the palace underground by this Canal.
